Kevin McPhail : President

President

Kevin is a Senior Appraiser in the Courtenay office and has been with BC Assessment since 1990, starting in the Dawson Creek office. Over the years he has had residential, commercial, industrial, farm and MIP experience and spent a number of years as the res team leader in Courtenay before recently expanding his development land expertise to cover both the Nanaimo and Courtenay assessment areas as their subject matter expert.

Encouraged by the previous president, Mike Meyer, he initially sought a one year backfill term as a Trustee, then was re-elected for a three year term. Subsequent to that he was the North Island Regional Director until becoming President in 2005, a position he has held ever since.

He is motivated by a strong desire to maintain and improve the working conditions of all employees in BC Assessment, to encourage and mentor younger labour activists and to improve the level of communication and education within our Local.

Jared Melvin : Vice-President

Jared is a business consultant in Head Office in the Business Transformation Division. Jared started at BC Assessment in January 2003, was a temporary employee for two years and returned in 2005 and finally became permanent in 2006. Jared became active in the union first as an alternate rep, then area rep and later a region director. He was elected to the vice president role in 2012.

David began his career with BCA in 1999 as a summer student in the Tri-Cities and Surrey offices.  He was successful in obtaining a permanent position in the Cariboo office at the start of 2000 and resided there until being promoted to his current Senior Appraiser position in the Cranbrook office in 2006.
From 2001 to 2006 he was involved as a union rep or alternate.  After spending a year as a Trustee in 2008 he was elected to the position he currently holds as Secretary Treasurer.

Tom is the Senior GIS Analyst at head office. He has worked with BC Assessment since May 2008. He has been an alternate area rep and an area rep for Information and Technology Services. Tom has been Regional Director for South Vancouver Island since Fall 2012.

Paul Mrazek : Kootenays

Paul was a Summer Student in the Kamloops office in 1991, a Temp Appraiser in the Matsqui office in 1992, and became full time Appraiser in the Nelson office in 1993 after completing the Realty Appraisal and Property Management Programs at Vancouver Community College. Paul moved from Nelson to the Cranbrook office in 2006 moving into a Senior Appraiser position. He has been the Alternate Area Rep in the Nelson Office from 1994 – 2006. From 2008 – 2015 Paul has been a Union Trustee auditing the Union’s financials twice a year. Paul was elected Regional Director for the Kootenay Region in 2015 and is currently chairing the Tech Change Committee and is a member of the Grievance Committee, Education Committee, and Wellness Committee.

Harpinder Sandhu : North Lower Mainland

Harpinder started his career with BC Assessment as an Appraiser Trainee at the Vancouver Sea to Sky office in 2008. He started his current roll as a Full time permanent Appraiser at the North Fraser office in 2009.

Harpinder's education background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Geography & Economics from SFU and a Programmer/Network Analyst Diploma.

Harpinder has been employed in Unionized positions in all 3 levels of government and the private sector. He has been exposed to many different types of management and employment organizations.

From his first year with BCA, he has been actively involved with Union matters and has represented his fellow members with a passion for maintaining fairness and equality.

Harpinder is a member of the following committees: Grievance, Communications, Joint Job Evaluation, Joint OH&S, Pension, Policy. He has recently been appointed by CUPEBC to the Technology and Communications Committee.

He is currently an elected member of the public service pension plan board of trustees.

Christina Infanti : North Island

Christina began her career as a PIC in the Victoria office back in 2010 and moved into her role as an Appraiser in the Nanaimo office in 2011. She has been involved with the union as an alternate rep since 2012. In July 2016, she was elected as Regional Director for the North Island. She is involved in following committees: Occupational Health and Safety, Joint Telework, Education and Bursary.

Kirsten Gladesdahl : North

Kirsten has been a PIA with BC Assessment for 30 years in the Prince George office. Kirsten teetered with the thought of becoming an appraiser although after completing her first appraisal course she decided to stay with the Administrative section of BC Assessment and has never looked back. Kirsten was elected as Northern Regional Director in September 2016. Kirsten is chairing the newly created Admin PIC Committee and is a member of the Wellness and Education Committee. Kirsten truly believes the most productive and healthy workplace environment is that where members are valued and treated with respect.

Lorraine Gilbert : Head Office

Lorraine Gilbert joined BC Assessment in 1993 as an Appraiser Trainee in Dawson Creek. She transferred to head office in 1998 and is now a Senior Appraiser. Over the years Lorraine has been involved with the Local as an Area Rep, Alternate, Regional Director, and most often as Stickler Without Portfolio. Lorraine was elected as Trustee in 2015.
