RE: ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Brothers and Sisters:

The AGM is fast approaching. I have enclosed a copy of the delegate form for the

2014 Annual General meeting. Please complete and return to the union office by August 30th a completed form for each delegate attending. If no alternate delegates are available and the selected delegate is not able to attend, please notify the union office as soon as possible in order to mitigate costs.

Policy Resolution and Constitutional Amendment forms are enclosed and in accordance with Article 5, Section (L), these forms must be received in the Union office sixty (60) days prior to the start of the AGM. This means they must be received by July 28th, 2014.

Training Seminar will again be held on the Friday prior to the AGM. There will be a total of 50 spots for interested delegates to attend the seminars and up to 7.75 hours of wages will be covered by the union for each attendee. Please contact Trent Snikkers if you are interested in attending.

Flight Information:

If you plan to fly to and from the AGM and you do not book your own flights, arrangements must be made with the Sec/Tres by emailing r.david@telus.net or by completing the information on the delegate form.

Updates:

Additional information and forms will be posted to the CUPE 1767 website www.cupe1767.ca as it becomes available. Thank you for your co-operation and see you at the AGM!

Welcome AGM Delegates!

Last year I planned to be ahead of the game and get the notification to the AGM out early so that delegates can plan ahead. Well, it’s that time of year again. I will be posting updated information to our website so please check back as we get closer to the weekend of September 29th and 30th.

Again this year we will be offering a CUPE training session focusing on member to member conflict and on conflict resolution skills. Thanks to our education chair Trent Snikkers for organizing this session. If you have been selected from your office to attend this workshop please contact Trent or our union office to reserve your space.

Returning this year will be a short seminar for new delegates or those who just want to learn more about how our AGM works. This informal drop-in session will be on Saturday morning at 8:30am at the back of the convention room.

Last year we moved our Saturday evening function to the Foggy Dew. We received a very positive response for this change of venue so keeping with the more casual approach we are again putting on an event in a more informal environment then in the past. This year we will take over a section of the Lounge at the Sheraton. This way we can have both the casualness of a Lounge setting but also take advantage of the convenience of the hotel facilities. As with last year, please confirm on your credential form if you will be attending as well as if you are bringing any guests. No minors are allowed in the Lounge but Harolds restaurant is close by so if you are bringing your children you can still attend.

The agenda will be posted closer to the AGM and this will determine the timeframe for the meeting. If it is not a contract AGM (ie if we sign a longer then 1 year term or we are still bargaining at that time) we will be adjourned by 12 noon on Sunday. If it turns out to be a Contract AGM then the meeting may proceed into the afternoon. Stay tuned for details.

As with all AGMs there will be a meeting afterwards for all 2012-2013 executive members.
