Chair – Doug Brock
With the beginning of the New Year come the opportunities to broaden one’s knowledge in the many areas of labour relations. Headlining these opportunities are two programs sponsored jointly by CUPE National and CUPE BC. The Naramata Weeklong Schools, to be held March 6-11 and April 3-8, will be providing courses in labour law, public speaking and parliamentary procedure, advanced stewarding, and collective bargaining to name a few. CUPE BC is offering 14 $1,000 and 15 $500 diversity scholarships to assist in covering some of the expenses to send delegates to these sessions. As well, your own local may provide additional assistance. The registration deadline for either session is February 21.
Additional labour-related courses are available throughout the spring across the province. For information on times and topics consult the education calendar at www.cupebc.ca.
