Our members at BCA may not know how our long term disability works. Employees are eligible for LTD after 6 months of service. If you are injured, sick or disabled and you are unable to work for more than 60 days, you can apply for LTD benefits. BC Life is the life insurance arm of Pacific Blue Cross and administers 75% of the income that was in effect prior to going on sick leave. Our plan is quite good and accrues pensionable service in the Public Service Pension Plan, but no salary contributions are made. You can no longer receive LTD benefits after turning 65.
