Chair - Wendy Hayer
If you are planning on retiring this year and want to ensure continuous coverage of your Medical Services Plan, Extended Health Benefits and Voluntary Dental, you must complete a Pension and Group Benefit Application form and send it to the Public Service Pension Plan.
MSP and EHB benefits coverage begins the first day of the month in which your pension begins. Premiums are deducted from your pension one month in advance, so there will be two premium deductions in your second month of pension. Dental coverage through Pacific Blue Cross voluntary dental plan is not available for your first month on pension.
Limitations on Coverage
Extended health and dental benefit coverage is a contingent benefit; that is, the benefits are not guaranteed. Coverage may be changed at any time by the pension board, including, but not necessarily limited to, increasing, decreasing or eliminating:
a) Coverage for people and benefits, or
b) Amounts for premiums and deductibles.
