Kevin McPhail

Kevin is a Senior Appraiser assigned to the Nanaimo office, but mostly working from home in Comox since the closure of the Courtenay office.  He has been with BC Assessment since 1990, starting in the Dawson Creek office. Over the years he has had residential, commercial, industrial, farm and MIP experience and is currently the res team leader for the North Island and development land appraiser for that area of VIR as well.

Encouraged by the previous president, Mike Meyer, he initially sought a one year backfill term as a Trustee at his first AGM, then was re-elected for a three year term. Subsequent to that he was the North Island Regional Director until becoming President in 2005, a position he held until he stepped down in 2017.  After the one-year Past-President mentoring role, he was elected to the position of Grievance Officer that he has held since then.

He is motivated by a strong desire to maintain and improve the working conditions of all employees in BC Assessment, to encourage and mentor younger labour activists and to improve the level of communication and education within our Local
